FEEDING TIPS FOR THE FINISHING PHASE FOR SHEEP:
• Change to the finishing diet after 10 days on the starter diet.
• Grind roughage with 20+ mm sieve to ensure adequate intake and mixing. Lucerne ensures the best results as a source of roughage in sheep finishing rations.
• Maize can be totally or partially replaced with barley, but the wheat and oats component must be limited to only 20%. Sheep perform at their optimum in the feedlot on maize as the grain component.
• Too dry or dusty diets usually limit intake. Dustiness is prevented by replacing 40 kg grain with 40 kg (one bag) of MOLASSES MEAL as indicated in the abovementioned rations.
• This feed contains anionic salts to prevent bladder stones. If the feeding period exceeds two months, an additional 0.5% ammonium chloride can be added to the diet.
• This feed contains medications to prevent acidosis and to increase feed conversion rate and growth.
