SODIUM BICARBONATE is a white, crystalline compound produced by the Solvay method developed by Ernest Solvay, using sea salt, ammonia and carbonic acid. This process produces a Sodium bicarbonate of very high purity.
Nutritive value
SODIUM BICARBONATE is a raw material extensively used in the animal feed industry. Research has shown that Sodium bicarbonate increases the rumen pH of ruminant animals to produce a more desirable rumen fermentation and increases rumen fluid outflow. SODIUM BICARBONATE can also aid in increasing the production performance of animals subjected to heat stress.
Recommended use / application
Recommended use/application SODIUM BICARBONATE is used in the production of feed for all animal species (cattle, sheep, pig, poultry).
In ruminant nutrition, sodium bicarbonate stabilizes the rumen pH and increases the buffer capacity of the rumen. SODIUM BICARBONATE assists in the prevention of rumen acidification when ruminants are fed high-concentrate diets or are subjected to environmental stress factors such as heat stress.
In poultry and pig diets, SODIUM BICARBONATE can provide an alternative source of sodium for pigs and poultry and is effective in optimising the electrolyte balance. SODIUM BICARBONATE can also increase the production performance of animals exposed to heat stress.
Feeding recommendations:
Feedlot
Add 12 kg per ton of feed for cattle and 10 kg per ton of feed for sheep
Heat stress in dairy cow
200 – 250 g per cow per day
